inToday I am grateful for band-aids because even though the place I needed to stick it (on the crease between my thumb and index finger) wasn’t suited to band-aids at all, Having them hang in there as long as they could helped me finish a piece of assessment tonight. Not so grateful for paper-cuts, but it could have been worse!
Also grateful for:
* My vitamix (when my immersion blender finally conked out) to help make soup
* Being home alone when a good song comes on the radio and turning the kitchen into my stage (for both singing and interpretive dance moves)
* Smashing through my reluctance to write this damned philosophy essay thing and just getting it done!
* The freshest, soften batch of choc-coated liquorice I’ve ever had
* Lifts to work and buses home
* Peppermint Tea
* Scented candles
* A soft warm bed

inIt’s like muscle memory but it incorporates more than muscles. It’s the familiarity of regular routes and car behaviours and pothole locations. I’m grateful that I have my bike memory built up. Even after weeks of not riding, riding to work today seemed perfectly normal and natural. Except for that first hill. That first hill’s a bitch.

inI kind of over estimated how much enchilada filling I needed for a party last Friday and Ajay and I have been eating enchiladas every day since then in an effort to get through all the leftover filling before it went off. Today I had the last two enchiladas for breakfast. And I’m so grateful that I don’t have to eat another one anytime soon! But they were pretty delicious, so…
Also grateful for:
* Rainbow headbands that I can finally wear again because my hair is the right length
* Getting to bed early because I have an early start tomorrow
* A yummy batch of mashed potatoes to go with dinner
* Finishing class early and beating the peak hour train ride home
* That my train line wasn’t affected by the fire that caused so many delays
* Heaters because it’s cold and we’re sooks
* Afternoon sunshine

inI have a four point checklist for Melbourne weather:
*Overcast
*Raining
*Windy
*Cold
And if the weather for the day is not one of those things, it’s a nice day. Today was overcast and raining and very, very windy, but it wasn’t cold, and so it was a very nice day indeed.
I’m grateful for my umbrella. It’s rainbow, which is awesome, and rather small. I like its size because it’s enough to protect me and not make me feel like I might poke someone’s eye out with it. It’s also a lot sturdier than a compact folding umbrella and can stand up to quite windy conditions very well. I think it’s a children’s sized brolly, but it’s perfect for me. And I’m very grateful for it when I have to navigate through the city on rainy days.
I think it used to belong to my sister and she either gave it to me or sold it to me for about five bucks haha.

Our home phone and Internet connection is with TPG, because it’s very cheap and very good value, and I’ve always been impressed with their tech support (the two or three times I’ve needed it over the years). Recently, I was listening to music through Pandora and it suddenly stopped loading. I went to reset the router and noticed that the home phone had a message on it saying “Check TEL Line” and was no longer working. Couldn’t get a dial tone and couldn’t call in to it. The wifi started working again after about half an hour, but it was so slow (I found out when I called that we weren’t even averaging 1mbs!). I put up with no phone and slow internet for a few days because I was busy and also a bit lazy, but when I finally did get around to calling TPG to ask for help, I couldn’t be more pleased with the way they handled it. The first guy I spoke with on the phone, Carlos, ran a bunch of very through test to figure out what was broken. He had me move the router to the kitchen to test the port there, talked me through some kind of force reset test and a bunch of stuff. Then he told me there must have been a physical problem and that he’d send he test results to the engineering department and they’d send a technician out to fix it. Now I’d very cleverly called on Thursday afternoon last week, and what with the public holiday and the weekend, I was told I could expect a call on Monday about arranging a time and we’d go from there (there was a chance I’d need to be home in case the technician needed to look at anything on our property). I got a call on Saturday, a technician was arranged for Monday morning and before I even got out of bed this morning the problem had been fixed. I got a call on my home phone at 9am to confirm it was all back in working order. Then I spent the morning dicking around on Facebook and Tumblr because finally the Internet was fast enough to load photos again! And then, this afternoon I got a call from customer service, they had been told that the problem was fixed, but they just wanted to check with me that I was happy that everything was working again. From start to finish, I received nothing but excellent customer service from TPG and it makes me very glad that I chose them to be our provider.
So, long story short, I’m very grateful today for the excellent customer service I received from TPG, and very glad my Internet is back to normal speed. Very grateful for the fact that I have access to Internet at all after what I’m learning in Uni at the moment!

I’m grateful for wedding parties that reunite friends and bring smiles to faces. Even if I was the odd one out. I’m grateful for moong dal halwa and shahi paneer and enthusiastic dancing. I’m grateful for learning about different cake traditions and being invited to join in. I’m grateful for no fussing over me being the odd one out. I’m grateful for a warm bed at the end of the night.

inToday I dyed my and Ajay’s hair and I’m grateful that I’ve dyed hair at home so many times before. Ajay usually gets his hair lightened (a tiny bit) when he gets it cut, but it’s so expensive for such a small thing! So today I finally convinced him to let me do it at home. He bought the dye, a shade or two lighter than what I usually use, and I dyed his hair. It came out a bit lighter than usual, but it looks just fine. I couldn’t stand to waste the rest of the dye, so I lightened my hair too. I thought it would be too blonde at first but once it dried it looked more like the copper colour I prefer. So all’s well that ends well, and next time I’ll be buying the dye, in the right shade! I’m grateful that I can do this at home, save ourselves a bit of money and have a few laughs at our gladwrapped heads! (Ajay won’t let me post the picture though!)
